With the knit kit 'Beanie Betsie' you can now knit your own hat! The 2 balls of mohair yarn in this kit are made from the fleece of our own young goats and lambs. You will also find in the package a circular knitting needle, our label, a darning needle. On the package and in the manual are 2 QR codes that will give you an instructional video and a video about the origin. Wear your hat with pride!

The yarn is made of fair mohair wool from Dutch young goats. This wool has the fine characteristic of not itching. The yarn is GOTS certified washed and dyed in Italy.

The special properties of mohair

Mohair has the added characteristic of a beautiful sheen and its furry texture makes it super soft, light and durable. Wool fibers are very elastic and have moisture-regulating properties. This wool cools in summer and warms in winter, is highly resistant to bacteria, is fire-resistant and biodegradable. Wool has a self-cleaning ability and thus hardly needs washing. Airing is often more than enough. This way, your item will last for generations.

 Choose your color and size

With this yarn, you can choose from seven colors: dark blue, light gray, taupe (gray-brown), light blue, dark gray and blush (soft pink). The off-white is the natural color of the mohair goat and not dyed. All yarns of our synthetic colors are washed and dyed according to the GOTS standard. This means that the amount of harmful chemicals have been reduced to a minimum. To recycle properly, we are switching to monoground fabric: the yarn of the colors light blue and blossom are already made of 100% mohair.

On a ball of Dutch Mohair of 50 grams is about 100 meters. We advise you to always knit a test piece first and then wash it on a 30 degree wool wash program to check the number of turns and stitches. After washing you can put the piece in the dryer for 10 minutes on lukewarm to get the most beautiful hairy result.
