The special properties of Dutch wool and alpaca

Wool from traditional Dutch sheep is characterized by a tougher appearance due to its coarser wool fibers. Alpaca wool is light, super soft and strong. This is a perfect match. Wool fibers are very elastic and have a moisture-regulating capacity. The wool cools in the summer and warms in the winter, is very resistant to bacteria, is fire-resistant and biodegradable. Wool has a self-cleaning ability and therefore hardly needs to be washed. Venting is often more than enough. This way your favorite sweater will last for generations.

Choose your color

The colors of our Dutch wool are undyed, natural or synthetically dyed. The colors sand, broken and taupe are made with the natural colors of the coat. The synthetic wool in dark blue is dyed GOTS certified. This means that dyes that are as sustainable as possible have been used. If you choose the naturally dyed dark blue (dyed with indigo), keep in mind that the paint may transfer slightly in the beginning.

Knitting Tension: Swatch 10 x 10 cm = 11 stitches and 17 rows after washing, needle size 8 mm. Washing instructions: 30 degrees wool wash, possibly tumble dry at a low temperature to completely remove shrinkage.

Description

± 100 gr. / ± 120 m

A beautiful traditional Dutch yarn.

This yarn is a mix of wool from traditional Dutch sheep and Alpaca. Traditional Dutch sheep produce a tough, rough wool and the alpaca makes it a bit softer. This way, this wool remains just below the itch point for most people. The sand, taupe and natural off white are the natural colors of the sheep and alpacas. The dark blue is GOTS certified washed and dyed, which means that it has been dyed with as few harmful dyes as possible. You can see the yarn on the website in a sweater in our style Dirko and Aggie. For the Dorus hat you need about 100 grams.

There is approximately 120 meters in a 100 gram ball of Dutch Wool. We advise you to always knit a test piece first and then wash it to check the number of rows and stitches.

Knitting Tension: Swatch 10 x 10 cm = 12.5 stitches and 20 rows after washing. Needle number 8.
Washing instructions: 30 degrees wool wash, dry flat.
